Standards & complianceBuying second-hand electronics properly is mostly paperwork, and the firms that skip it are the reason the trade has the reputation it has. This page sets out exactly how we operate, so a business handing us a fleet of laptops, or a person handing us their old phone, can see what happens to it and what we keep.
Photo ID and proof of address checked on every purchase, with the details recorded and the documents handed straight back.
Every device checked against the national blocklist before payment.
Purchase records kept for six years and available to police on request.
Certified wipe on every device, or physical destruction of storage where a wipe is impossible.
We check your photo ID and proof of address and write the details against the purchase — the documents are handed straight back and never photographed or copied. The device serial or IMEI is recorded at the same time.
Serial run against the national blocklist and the manufacturer’s activation lock. Anything blocklisted, locked or on finance is refused and the refusal is logged.
Certified wipe, or physical destruction of the storage where the device is too damaged to wipe. Certificate emailed to you either way.
Working stock is refurbished and resold, parts are harvested, and anything with no value left goes to a licensed recycler rather than a bin.
| Situation | Our answer |
|---|---|
| No photo ID | No sale. Not for a regular, not for a friend, not for a big lot. |
| Device still activation locked | Refused until it is signed out. We cannot verify ownership otherwise. |
| Still on finance or a contract | Refused. It is not yours to sell until it is settled. |
| Blocklisted or reported lost | Refused, and the check stays on record. |
| Seller under 18 | Refused, regardless of what it is. |
| Business stock with no release paperwork | Refused until the company confirms the seller is authorised. |
None of this is posturing. Buyers of second-hand stock pay more for goods with a clean audit trail behind them, so the paperwork is also the reason we can pay you properly. Full detail on what we keep and for how long is in the privacy policy.
Yes. Bulk and business sellers get an itemised purchase record, a transfer note, and wipe or destruction certificates for every unit. Ask and it comes as standard, not as an extra.
Storage is destroyed first, then the unit goes to a licensed recycler rather than to landfill. We can put that in writing if you need it for your own environmental reporting.
We hand over the purchase record, which shows you sold it, when, and for how much. That protects you as much as it does us — it is the reason we take ID rather than a reason not to sell to us.
No. It is not worth the argument about whether a minor can pass good title, so the answer is simply no.
